Ecotourism

Ecotourism is minimal environmental impact tourism, conducted in a responsible manner resulting on site conservation and other social benefits. The North Coast holds one of the hot spots for this practice, the Sapiranga Reserve located in Praia do Forte.
The Sapiranga Reserve is part of the APA (Environmental Protection Area) of the North Coast of Bahia (State Decree no. 1046 of 17.03.1992). The APA Litoral Norte da Bahia includes an area 142 km long, stretching from the Rio Pojuca (Praia do Forte, in the municipality of Mata de São João) to Rio Real (Mangue Seco, border with the state of Sergipe).
 

Information on visitation to the Reserve Sapiranga:

  • Visitation Fee - R$ 6.00 per person, R$ 3.00 student
  • Teachers, Seniors from 65 years and children under 5 are free.

Table of values for local guides in the Reserve:

  • 1 to 2 people R $ 5.00
  • 3 to 10 people $ 10.00
  • 11 to 20 people $ 15.00
